The Spaghetti Tower Challenge: Team Building Exercise.
Teams of Four
20 sticks of spaghetti
1 yard tape
1 yard string
1 Marshmallow
Direction: Build the tallest freestanding Structure in
18 Minutes using only the materials above
Rules:
·         Don’t eat or cut the marshmallow!
·         Marshmallow goes on the very top
·         The tower will be measured from the base to the top of the marshmallow.

Notes: I did this activity the second time I visited Delray Neighborhood house. It was a very fun activity, and it served as an ice breaker between us the children from the center. The children really enjoyed it. I must warn that it is very challenging to build the tower, for adults. Watch the video to hear why children in kindergarten do better in this challenge than business school students.  Tom Wujec:Fuild a tower, build a team

After the activity we gave the team with the tallest toward a prize. We gave smaller prizes to everyone for participating.

  1. Great resource! I really like actives that promote team building rather than using actives that only promote reflection or are based around psych education, which is what I am primarily familiar with. They can be used in so many scenarios and I think it would be great to do with families who struggle to communicate and work together, which I see a lot at my field placement. Thanks for sharing!
